Community College of Philadelphia
In its 50 years of existence, the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) has served nearly 700,000 students, and awarded close to 55,000 degrees. Diverse program offerings have prepared students for the job market and college transfers. Resounding student success, workforce development, community relations, world-class facilities and fiscal stability and sustainability are core to the growth of the College and future of its students and community.
Since 2013, CCP and Single Stop – a national organization dedicated to helping low-income students - have served 2,583 students and their families, connecting them to over $6,751,685 in tax refunds, benefits and supportive services.
As a community-engagement activity, CCP’s Dental Hygiene program offers a free dental hygiene clinic to underserved members of the community. In turn, students get real-world, hands-on experience.
Urban locations must take advantage of all available space. The development of a rooftop sports deck for the College’s athletics department and championship cross country and track and field teams expanded the available student athletic programs.
CCP recently restructured to build its Corporate Solutions program, offering workforce training and development to the region’s businesses and employers.
As the College increases offerings in career and technical education, it has launched new programs such as Biomedical Equipment Technology. Students learn operation, function and clinical application of a range of medical devices. This course of study includes an internship of 200 hours of supervised field experience.
